Feeling quite luxurious sitting by the fire in my suite at the Hartstone Inn. The snow continues to fall giving me an even cozier impression of my surroundings. Michael and Mary Jo, the owners of this exquisite inn, take such good care of me. Hugs, chocolates, cookies, and always a room with a big comfortable bed piled with elegant bedding await me every time in this enchanted inn located in idyllic Camden, Maine. While here I am beckoned to the area’s hiking trails, one of the best used bookstores (if you must know Stone Soup above Peter Ott’s on main street) and one of my favorite cafes where they serve yummy egg wraps, bagel sandwiches and big cups (almost bowl size) of hot cocoa with soy milk. I’m a happy gal.
Tonight I have even more reason to be happy. Several of my farmer/foodie/chef friends are coming to the inn to cook, drink wine and laugh. I promise photos and maybe even a recipe tomorrow. My contribution to the meal homemade chocolate chip cookies the way my friend Sandy makes them with Molly Wizenberg’s twist (sea salt and bittersweet chocolate instead of semisweet), Pichet Ong’s Coconut Chocolate Chip Cookies, a bottle of Maine mead and a case of beer donated by Peak Organic. Gotta run, my friend Annie is heading over so we can play in the kitchen with Michael.
